Breault Research Organization (BRO) Releases APEX Optical Software; New Software Melds Computer-Aided Design and Optical Engineering

TUCSON, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Breault Research Organization (BRO) has released APEX™ optical engineering software, the first part of a multi-phase, multi-year plan to create a concurrent engineering software environment. Now available for purchase, APEX represents a new type of optical engineering program honed from decades of BRO experience in delivering premium optical software solutions. APEX is a stand-alone application that facilitates and optimizes an engineer’s interaction with optical-engineering software tools by fully integrating them in the industry-standard SolidWorks® 3D-modeling environment.

“Our customers have wanted an easy-to-use CAD interface coupled with the power of ASAP, and we have delivered that in APEX.”

BRO is well known for its Advanced Systems Analysis Program (ASAP®) – considered by many to be the industry standard in optical engineering software. And the time-proven ASAP non-sequential ray-tracing engine is at the core of APEX. With the power and sophistication of ASAP and SolidWorks behind APEX, the program enables the design and analysis of even the most complex optical and illumination systems with a simple, easy-to-follow workflow. In APEX, optical designers learn, create, design, and analyze in the same program environment – and that environment is all about ease of use.

According to BRO CEO, Dr. Kevin Garcia, “Our customers have wanted an easy-to-use CAD interface coupled with the power of ASAP, and we have delivered that in APEX.” With the fusion of SolidWorks and the optical engineering software for which BRO is known, APEX offers optical designers and their engineering colleagues a unified software environment where there is no need to translate, bridge or link between two separate programs. “APEX is tailor-made to meet the requirements of today's engineering R&D groups, whether big or small. Experimenting, evaluating, and innovating couldn't be easier,” added Garcia.
