Tucson: Providence Service Corp Q2 results

Tucson-based social services provider
Providence Service Corp. on Monday announced record second-quarter revenue and earnings on cost-cutting and an upturn in Medicaid en­rollment.

In a report issued after the markets’ close, Providence re­ported net income of $5.3 mil­lion, or 40 cents per share, in the quarter that ended June 30, up 53 percent from $3.4 million and 27 cents in the same quarter a year ago. Analysts had on average ex­pected earnings of 39 cents per share.

Second-quarter revenue was $191.8 million, up 11 percent from second-quarter 2008.
