Tucson-based social services provider Providence Service Corp. on Monday announced record second-quarter revenue and earnings on cost-cutting and an upturn in Medicaid enrollment.
In a report issued after the markets’ close, Providence reported net income of $5.3 million, or 40 cents per share, in the quarter that ended June 30, up 53 percent from $3.4 million and 27 cents in the same quarter a year ago. Analysts had on average expected earnings of 39 cents per share.
Second-quarter revenue was $191.8 million, up 11 percent from second-quarter 2008.
