Tucson: Award Finalists Announced

Copper Cactus finalists listed

More than three dozen businesses were selected as finalists for the 2009 Wells Fargo Copper Cactus Awards, whose winners will be announced at a ceremony later this week.

The award recognizes Southern Arizona businesses based on three categories: business growth, community service and best place to work. The Tucson Chamber of Commerce also partners with Wells Far­go to present the award for Small- Business Leader of the Year.

The companies nominated as the best place to work are: Darling Environmental & Surveying; AmpliMed Corp.; Larsen Baker; Ephibian; Arizona Party Rental; Barker Morrissey Contracting; Heinfeld, Meech & Co.; KD Engineering and MET­CON Research;
Randall & Richards; Ham­mel, Beal & Lauer; Specialists in Dermatol­ogy; Arizona Oncology; Comfort Keepers; Madden Media; and NSI-Nursing Service. The companies nominated for busi­ness growth are: Eye Care and Cure; In­telliTECH Communications Group; Mama’s Famous Pizza and Heros; Sweet P’s; Sonoran Process Equipment Co.; Frost, A Gelato Shoppe; The Solar Store; Quality of Life Medical & Research Cen­ter; Simpleview; Maly & Associates; Ho­tel Congress; Glaz-Tech Industries; All­source Global Management; and TM In­ternational.

The companies nominated for com­munity service are: Madaras Gallery; Tucson Lifestyle Magazine; Jacob C. Fruchthendler & Co.; Excel Mechanical;
The Caliber Group; New Beginnings Treatment Center; The WLB Group; Tucson Appliance/Tucson Wholesale Supply Co.; Bass & Associates; The Temp Connection; and 911 Collision Centers.

The nominees for Small-Business Leader of the Year are: Bruce Beach, managing shareholder of the accounting and business consulting firm Beach, Fleischman & Co.; Robert Cashdollar, CEO of Apache Nitrogen Products; Mar­ion Hook, owner of the Adobe Rose Inn; Page Repp Jr., founder of Repp Design & Construction; Bradley Feder, partner, Joe Cracchiolo, co-founder, and Michael Bernstein, co-founder, of Simply Bits.
