General Dynamics C4 Systems received a $30 million, six-year contact from the U.S. Air Force Cryptologic Programs Systems Group for a system to allow control of encrypted systems anywhere in the country.
C4 Systems will help design and develop the Remote Rekey Modernization program, which will allow Air Force personnel to remotely manage encrypted systems.
Encryption systems contain secure data that rely on mathematical keys to open. Design of the system is expected to take three years. It is scheduled to be implemented in 2013. The contract could be worth up to $50 million for General Dynamics if all options are exercised.
The Scottsdale-based unit of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD) will be the prime contractor on the project.
