Tucson - Japanese firm buys 70% of BioVigilant

Tokyo-based Ya m a t a ke Corp. completed a purchase agreement Thursday to buy the majority of stock in Tucson’s

BioVigilant Systems Inc.


Yamatake acquired more than 70 percent of BioVigilant’s stock, said Mary Parsons, a BioVigilant spokeswoman.

BioVigilant, at 2005 W. Ruthrauff Road, makes optical devices that instantly detect mi­crobial contamination.

The deal provides BioVigilant with funding, engineering and manufacturing resources, the company said.
