Tucson - CDEX Cuts Salaries
Arizona Star - May 27, 2009 CDEX cuts salaries of all its employees
Tucson-based CDEX Inc., which makes drug-identification and -detection devices, said Tuesday that it is reducing salaries for all employees as part of a plan to cut expenses in response to the recession.
A CDEX news release said the plan, unanimously approved by the board of directors, “calls for a selective reduction in expenses while maintaining full support of existing and new customers.”
As part of the plan, “salary levels have been adjusted for all employees, including new employment agreements, with the CEO to provide services at no pay and for the COO (chief operating officer) to receive an annual salary of $25,000.”
While the firm will continue to expand its current product lines — its ValiMed system to validate prescription drugs and a device to detect illegal drugs — research into new product lines will be curtailed.
