Scottsdale: - 3D-P Mine Productuctivity Technology

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA and TORONTO, May 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - 3D-P and Active Control Technology (TSX-V:ACT) today announced an agreement in which ACT will distribute 3D-P's Intelligent Endpoint(TM) product line to the mining industry. Intelligent Endpoints, which provide machine diagnostics and key operating data to mine managers, works seamlessly with ActiveMine(TM), the premier wireless voice communication and tracking system for mines.

Under the agreement, Active Control gains new revenue streams through improved access to the surface mining market and the addition of a powerful offering to help its customers improve productivity and reduce costs. For 3D-P, a leading provider of technology products for the mining industry, ActiveMine's wireless Wi-Fi data network effectively makes it possible to offer Intelligent Endpoints to underground mines for the first time, expanding the company's solutions portfolio.

The agreement, which is based on a Memorandum of Understanding signed by the two companies in April, authorizes ACT to distribute Intelligent Endpoints to both underground and surface mines. ACT will also develop intrinsically safe (IS) versions of the system and seek approvals from the US Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) and regulators in other countries. ACT has exclusive worldwide rights to distribute IS versions of Intelligent Endpoints.

Intelligent Endpoints provide real-time equipment data to help mine managers better monitor and oversee operations. ActiveMine will make it possible to offer Intelligent Endpoints, now widely used in surface mining, to underground mines over a single wireless Wi-Fi network that also provides voice, tracking and other data.

"The combination of our organizations' complementary expertise and technology brings a compelling new offering to the mining industry," said Steve Barrett, President and CEO, Active Control. "3D-P's Intelligent Endpoints are the recognized standard in above-ground equipment monitoring while ACT offers best-in-class wireless network technology for above- and below-ground mining environments."

"Now more mines will be able to monitor production and equipment information with Intelligent Endpoints, thereby reducing costs and enhancing productivity," said Al Lehman, President, 3D-P. "The combined offering will also drive best practices and improved corporate decision-making by providing mine managers with real-time visibility of every Intelligent Endpoint-enabled machine across all of their operations."
